Globally we could reduce p2p overhead if data was routed locally when possible. ISPs would love the idea of peers within their own network sharing data in preference to sending/receiving the data from outside the local network. 

Countries in the edge networks (New Zealand for example) would receive a massive benefit from a reduction in internationally received data as local seeders prioritise others in the country. Many users who can share unlimited data within their own ISP network and a restricted amount internationally would be able to contribute more to the community. 

Seems an obvious/easy way to lower the overhead required to share data. Currently I might be seeding to someone in Norway while in turn my neighbour is receiving from someone in USA. We're needlessly filling the pipes...

Thoughts?
