webpage cannot be displayed??

Hi folks

Apologies if this has been dealt with already, I tried searching the forums but couldn't find an answer.

I have two computers and use utorrent on them both. Usually I leave my laptop downloading so my desktop is free for other things.

Today I clicked on a "magnetic download" link on my laptop but instead of starting utorrent and starting to download as it would usually do, it attempted to open another webpage which failed and read "this webpage cannot be displayed". All magnetic links on my laptop now do this. BUT... if I click the same links on my desktop, utorrent opens and works fine.

I haven't changed anything on my laptop. Both machines were working fine previously and have the latest utorrent version, Internet Explorer 11 and windows 7. 

What can I do to fix this?

Reset the magnet association on the problem machine.

Excuse my noobness, but how do I do that?

I have clicked on Associate in the preferences. And next time I ran utorrent I got the "do you want utorrent to be your default torrent downloader" box, in which I selected yes.

But I still have the same problem.

I have websearched associating torrent files and got so much conflicting information it was no help.

HELP!!!
