wanarace Posted June 7, 2014 Report Posted June 7, 2014 Hello, First off;uTorrent 3.4.1 (build 31227)Windows XP Pr Sp3The catch is, this is running on a Virtual machine Problem:95% of the time I get this error when adding a torrent. I am trying save the file to a Network drive (which is a physical drive on the machine that is running the virtual machine) Windows has no problem finding the drive. Utorrent can find the save location when I set it up under the directories options. The drive works flawlessly outside of uTorrent. The drive is definetley not a sleep or anything like that. The kicker is 5% of the time it will save to the network drive with no problem. Also if I change the location to the Virtual Drive, it will save no problem. This is on a fresh install. I had the same problem the last time I set this up, but found a way to fix it and it worked perfectly for 2 years. I can't remeber how I fix it. Any suggestions?ThanksSteve
linx05 Posted June 7, 2014 Report Posted June 7, 2014 3.4.2 BETA Build 31565. I'm just getting these same error messages too. It seems to happen at random. I thought my drive was failing and got worried. If I delete the file/torrent through utorrent and restart it I believe it fixes it. Or it could just be a random occurrence. Windows 7 Home Premium service pack 2. EDIT: There is a thread open about this: http://forum.utorrent.com/topic/83634-error-the-system-can-not-find-the-path-specified-writetodisk/
wanarace Posted June 8, 2014 Author Report Posted June 8, 2014 Thanks linx05 I saw that post while searching for an answer. I have tried everything suggested in the post and it has not helped in my situation. It seems as most of the problems in that post were on working systems that suddenly stopped working because of bad files names or invalid download locations. On my systems, it's not working at all, or atleast 95% of the time. I tried installing the uTorrent to the network drive and then saving to the that drive. No go same problem. The program will run no problem from that drive, uTorrent refuses to save to that drive. The most frustrating thing is that I am remeber having this problem the last time (2 years ago) I set this up. That time I found the problem, fixed it, and the system ran perfectly for 2 years. Now I can not remeber what the heck I did. Thanks, I am still looking for any suggestions.Steve
wanarace Posted June 8, 2014 Author Report Posted June 8, 2014 Also, uTorrent has no problem saving the Torrent file to the Network drive. ThanksSteve
