Scorpiono Posted June 7, 2014 Report Posted June 7, 2014 I've had this problem for a while now and I've been dealing with it by using a third party scheduler to start and terminate uTorrent at specific times. I have intentionally programmed uTorrent through the build-in scheduler in preferences to only download from midnight to 7AM at full speed everyday for the whole week, while having it turned off all other times. It does what it is supposed to do: uTorrent starts to download and upload the files from midnight and stops at 7AM by transforming all the files into "queued" mode. That's great. Here's the problem, every few minutes, the download and upload speed indicators at the bottom toolbar of uTorrent show signs that uTorrent is downloading something even though it's in the "turn off" period. One would think that it is checking for updates. OK fine, but something was fishy. I terminated uTorrent and launched it again to reset the total downloaded size indicator at the bottom to monitor what's going on. So I leave it as such while making sure that the built-in scheduler is working properly and that the current files are in "queued" mode and not downloading nor uploading at all, and come back after a few hours to notice that the total downloaded size within those few hours are about 200MB. Just a few hours and 200MB, when it's not supposed to download anything at all and the files being "queued" still have the same percentage as before. update checking shouldn't do that either. I have limited quota provided from my ISP and free from midnight to 7AM. I don't want to waste at least 200MB of downloaded nothing. So I was forced to use a third party scheduler to start uTorrent just 1 minute before midnight and terminate uTorrent 1 minute after 7AM to avoid any unnecessary downloads and uploads. I cant keep using this method cause I cant access uTorrent remotely anymore from outside because it is not launched, and it makes me limited to use uTorrent only from midnight to 7AM. Is this a bug? Am I missing something? Is this normal? is there a fix or another method to prevent this useless download?
rafi Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 "disable DHT when off" - checked?Pref->Bittorrent->Limit local peers bandwidth - enabled? All offers/ads - disabled? No"forced" jobs?
Scorpiono Posted June 11, 2014 Author Report Posted June 11, 2014 Thank you for your reply. I solved it. Apparently it had something to do with RSS downloader. I disabled it and erased everything got to do with RSS and that did it for me
