Lunchboks Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 Hi everyone. I've been using uTorrent ever since it appeared on Mininova and have not had any problems until now. Error reads as follows, "Unabale to save resume file. Some data may be lost. Another program might have the file open, or the disk is full. Please correct this and click Retry. If you press Cancel, the resume file will not be saved." I've got over 25 gigs free so my disk isn't full. I read in the FAQ to make a blank file for it, but when I restart my pc there is a file that keeps reappearing in my download box that I have tried to remove numerous times to no avail. I mean I can delete it, but it just keeps showing back up when i restart uTorrent and my new file has to be restarted everytime. I have removed the .torrent from the folder I load torrents from but this still didn't help, it just keeps showing back up for some reason. If any knows what I can do to fix this it would be much appreciated. Thanks in adavance.
stihia Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 there are TWO files that you have to create...read the faq carefully
Lunchboks Posted May 28, 2006 Author Report Posted May 28, 2006 Lol I made both files, but I still have this stupid problem with this torrent not deleting and my new files not being able to continiue without me having to load it up each time. It's saving the actual information from the file but it won't continue without me reloading the .torrent file. And it puts up the error about every 10 seconds or so, so if I walk away and come back I gotta close the error box about 20 times. This error is happening without a .torrent even being shown on the main face of the program.
Firon Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 You made a blank file named settings.dat in the same folder as utorrent.exe?
Lunchboks Posted May 28, 2006 Author Report Posted May 28, 2006 Yes I made both files. I don't care if I have to keep loading the file or not I just want to get rid of this file that won't delete from the program. If I right click on it and choose remove .torrent or delete .torrent and data it goes away til I restart the program again. I've tried right clicking and choosing open containing folder but since I've already physically removed the .torrent and emptied it from my recycle bin it won't open anything.
Lunchboks Posted May 28, 2006 Author Report Posted May 28, 2006 If noone knows how to get rid of this file can I maybe run regedit and get rid of it that way, and if I can which path would I have to take through my registery?
Switeck Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 Just search for instances of it in your registry. Delete them all. Reboot and good luck.
Firon Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 Close the program and delete the file with it closed? Or get Unlocker, and try to unlock it.
Lunchboks Posted May 29, 2006 Author Report Posted May 29, 2006 The .torrent and data have already been deleted. It's been off the pc for 2 days now. I've used the windows search option for all files and folders and can find nothing, but uTorrent seems to not realize that this file no longer exsists and attempts to load it everytime I start it up.:/
Firon Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 Which file is it trying to load exactly? I'm not sure I understand your problem.
