I have a Comcast Linksys WCG-200 router and a Linksys WUSB-11 wireless network adapter.

I was trying to set up uTorrent for port forwarding. I went here: http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Comcast/WCG200-CC/Utorrent.htm. I read the guide, set up a static IP for both the router and the network adapter.

Static IP for router : 192.168.0.13

Static IP for network adapter : 192.168.0.12

I use the computer connected to the wireless network adapter for torrenting, so in the port forwarding setup screen, I used 192.168.0.12 as my IP address. For the port, I used the port number that was under teh Networks section of uTorrent's settings.

I shut off all known firewalls.

I am still getting a red light, and when I try using speed guide, I get the following error message:

Welcome to the µTorrent Port Checker.

A test will be performed on your computer to check if the specified port is opened.

Checking port 34252 on 67.167.158.240...

Error! Port 34252 does not appear to be open.

Please see www.portforward.com for more information about how to map a port.

Please make absolutely sure that PeerGuardian2 or Protowall is allowing utorrent.com (208.99.198.134) in either of those programs. Those of you using ipfilter.dat should make sure the list does not include the website's IP. After making sure of this, re-run this test by refreshing the page (F5).

portforward.com is where I found the guides that I attempted to use to port-forward, and I checked teh FAQs on this site, as well as other similar posts, but there were no positive results.

In the log of uTorrent, I got this message: [11:54:07] Unable to map UPnP port to 192.168.0.12:34252

I then switched off "Enable UPnP Mapping," but to no avail.

What should I do?

If it's easier, my AIM screen name is NAUF WTF. It may be quicker to solve my problem in a quicker, one-on-one chat.

I really need some help. I will pay $5 PayPal if you solve my problem.

Thanks.

LOL, well I don't need the $5, but I just dealt with this the other day when I downloaded and installed this torrent client.

Is your Windows firewall on? I had to go to my Windows firewall and set an "exception" for the torrent client.

In the Windows firewall menu, there's a tab that says "Exceptions". Click on that. Then click on the button that says "Add Programs" and when the next window pops up, select your torrent client from the list and click "okay". That sets it as an exception and Windows firewall will let it through.

Then, at the bottom of the "Exceptions" tab, there's an "Add Port" button. Click on that. Under name, put the name of the torrent program and under "port" put in the port number that you want opened for the torrent client to use. Click okay and then retest the port. It should be open now (at least that's what happened for me).

I hope this helps!

Strange. You have the same router that I have.

Tell me...in the port forwarding screen, did you put "Utor1" as the Application Name for the port you wanted to open?

Did you check the "enable" box?

Did you enter "32452" to "32452" under Port Range?

Under "Protocol", do you have "Both" selected?

Did you type in "12" under IP Address?

I'm not trying to be dense, just asking you to double-check these things. :-)

Waffle, you put in the IP address of the computer you're using the torrent client on. You said that you're using the computer that's connected to your adapter. You need to get that IP address (really easy....START--RUN--CMD--IPCONFIG) and enter the last two digits of it into the "IP address" box under the Port Forwarding screen.

Your cablemodem might have a firewall or mini-router in it as well which could make µTorrent firewalled. (It's not likely, but something to check.)

Some AV and anti-spyware software also act as firewalls that need to be configured or removed.

Even viruses and spyware can act as firewalls -- routing internet traffic through them, as the seek to modify it in some way.

Try restarting your PC, and you are sure you forwarded to 192.168.0.12? And that you forwarded the port you picked in µTorrent?

Do you have any anti-virus program?
