-$$$$$- Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 i decided to try something....first of all my connection is 1Mbit/256k (114kb/s - 26kb/s)and i use uTorrent of course, my modem is a D-link 210 USBwith no router, NAT or any other things, simple adsl modem,my firewall is ZoneAlarm Free and Nod32 antivirus.NOW, i decided to disable SERVER ACCESS in the firewall for uTorrentand see what happend, so i closed utorrent and rebooted pc,when i loaded uTorrent and started downloading i still get same speeds UP and DOWN.that is 95kb/s down - 20kb up and while the bottom thing is YELLOWit doesnt seem to make a single difference.so why everyone including utorrent, bitcomet, azureus and all other clientssay you must give SERVER access to your bittorrent client?i'd be glad to know.Thanks.
Firon Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 Because they open a listening port so you can receive incoming connections.http://bt.degreez.net/firewalled.html
