extracting info from a torrent file

Dear mods and developers,

we have downloaded and uploaded some files.

download duplications happen all the time.

particularly as we have deleted the torrent files on the client (utorrent).

some torrent files donot have the magnet links attached as we right-clicked one torrent in the client. so i have to google it to have it on hand. even the thepiratebay.se cannot be searched through the respective hash number.

some torrent files donot have the magnet links.

some torrent files do not provide the info when it was created.

some requests:

  1. can we extract the 'valuable' info from a torrent file from the "INFO" tab into a csv file?
  2. can we extract the files list from a torrent file from the "FILES" tab into a csv file?

thank you in advance

regards,

If you've already gotten the file list, then the .torrent file is saved in %appdata%\utorrent or your torrent save directory.

Torrent metadata structure is already a standard outlined at http://bittorrent.org/beps/bep_0003.html and explained slightly more clearly at https://wiki.theory.org/BitTorrentSpecification#Metainfo_File_Structure

With the amount of information you're showing, a bencode capable program could give you a csv file list.

wow, that is so much way over my average knowledge and skill.

anyhoo, so i know what to look for, a bencode capable program.

then, i found out that bencode is similar to JSON as they are both the data language.

such technicalities (c and py) are way beyond my brains can handle.

is there any chance you can mention several names of 'free program' that is capable to eXtract such info.

last but not least, thank you.

Not sure if this is what you want, but there is a quick and easy way.....

1) Select the torrent you need info for.

2) Select for example "Files"

3) Ctrl-A selects all the entries

4) Ctrl-C copies to clipboard

5) You can paste directly by Ctr-V into an Excel sheet

The list comes out already separated into columns.

Hope this helps
