uTorrent crashing my laptop

So not really sure what's going on.

 

Went about my weekly downloads, nothing new, but then my laptop started to become slower and eventually froze.

 

After investigating, I found that it is uTorrent that crashing my laptop. Not sure what happened, but as soon as I open uTorrent, it starts checking the torrents, then freezes, making the rest of my laptop slower (at one point a 200mb copy took 15mins), until everything eventually freezes, including my task manager and I have to force a restart.

 

My computer is fine until I open uTorrent.

 

I've tried reinstalling it, but it keeps doing the same thing.

 

Any help would be greatly apreciated.
