name1234 Posted September 24, 2014 Report Share Posted September 24, 2014 I made the mistake of manually editing my settings.dat file in a text editor. I was pretty confident at the time that I didn't totally screw everything up, but once I started uTorrent, everything went to default and my settings.dat file shrunk down to a tiny version of what it once was. Several times I exited uTorrent, pasted the old settings (the ones that worked fine) back in there and saved, but upon starting, uTorrent keeps changing my settings back to default and outputting a few settings.dat.*.bad files every time. Unfortunately, I have now also lost my copy of the old good settings (I forgot Notepad++ was running in admin, my clipboard history script doesn't work on admin processes), but I do have a few of those settings.dat.*.bad files which seem to contain the old data. Is there anything I can do to get uTorrent to restore the settings or do I have to start from scratch? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Beasly Posted September 24, 2014 Report Share Posted September 24, 2014 What happens if you try to remove the fileguard entry?Delete original , all bad settings.dat and setting.old and try again.
