Wi-Fi usb storage speed problem

I have TP-LINK wr1043nd and use its usb port to connect external hdd WD Elements as local area storage device. The speed problem appears during downloading through utorrent to local storage device - the DL's hit about 4MB/s then crash to 15kB/s. then do it again and again. I have turned off the external hdd timer, it never goes to sleep. In your opinion is there a way to fix this? Thank you in advance!

You MIGHT be able to get it to stop by using it locally, but there's no guarantees on that.

The drive, regardless of what its sequential speeds and connection are capable of, is running at usb 2.0 speeds, which will take its performance down a LOT.

Additionally, if you're connecting to it wirelessly, you are likely not getting the high end of what that connection is capable of.
