sjulia
Hello, I was wondering if anyone knew a free vpn I could use to unblock bittorrent traffic? My university blocks the protocol, but I am only wanting to download linux distributions, and torrenting is the fastest way.If no one knows, has anyone tried Purevpn? is it worth the money? PiusX
I would say you need to switch to a Proxy socks5 usage to see if that works past their blocks.
Radikalman
Hello, I was wondering if anyone knew a free vpn I could use to unblock bittorrent traffic? My university blocks the protocol, but I am only wanting to download linux distributions, and torrenting is the fastest way.If no one knows, has anyone tried Purevpn? is it worth the money? Noooooo, don't spend money on a vpn when you can use an awesome and easy to use one for free! Obviously it has bandwith limits - 500mb for the free account + an extra 500mb if you tweet it and unlimited for £4.99 if gb isn't enough. Grab it here: http://www.tunnelbear.com/ It's hands down the best VPN program that I have come across, it's hassle free, all you need to do is install it, wait for it to auto setup itself, choose your nearest location from the GUIs dropdown menu and flick the off switch et voila! Hope you find it as useful as I have.
PiusX
Another quote.... https://www.bestvpn.com/blog/4085/proxies-vs-vpn-whats-the-difference/ We will leave with just one word of caution: nothing in this world is ever absolutely 100% secure, so be careful out there!VPN downside More expensive than proxiesCan be a bit slow during peak timesIf VPN provider keeps logs then these may be obtained by the authoritiesSomething that isn't always disclosed to those looking to use VPN.This is what happens to using one pipe. Not very good assurance any terms. Proxy downside Only useful for accessing websites*Clever use of Flash or JavaScript allows many websites to detect your true IPHTTP traffic is not encrypted, so government surveillance systems and your ISP can see what you are doing. If connected through HTTPS (SSL) then traffic cannot be monitored, but the IP of the SHTTP website can be logged. SSL encryption is roughly equivalent to 128-bit key length. Each web browser must be configured individually to use the proxy server. However, the good news is that this is well supported by all browsersThat first part isn't true it's also good at torrenting since your IP isn't shown to your ISP what your always downloading so you don't get DCMA or the likes. The second part well that the nature of broswer and plugins keep your software up to date. This one is kinda a yes no...Third if they want it they will get it...nothing brainy about this one.Something worthing doing if your broswer in your Region blocks or restricts you from sites it wants you to have no access to like thinking outside their box. Oh yeah...before I had to take a learning curve to figure this one out. And once you do that I got a better footing on how to do it. But then again that part is outside the scope of utorrent software itself and something the user of utorrent must take on their own to learn about.
