e2e4e70c7b880811
I was told by someone on the forum of a public tracker that any uploading to peers discovered via DHT would not count towards my ratio on that site.I assumed that the uploaded/downloaded figures sent from the client to the tracker in a GET request included simply the total amounts uploaded/downloaded, but the person said that the client would exclude transfers to DHT peers from the figures it reported to the tracker. This sounds unlikely to me but I wondered if anyone could confirm that the client simply reports the gross upload/download figures without consideration as to where the traffic has gone.If this is so, then would it also mean that in a multi-tracker situation, you would get full credit for uploading on all trackers)? Firon
All clients simply report the per-session upload/download figure regardless of where the traffic came from. You can even upload to yourself on the same PC or another and it'll still give you credit. One of the many, many flaws with private trackers. And yes, all trackers would see the same amount in a multi-tracker situation.
DreadWingKnight
That person doesn't know how the protocol works.Just because you upload to or download from a peer you got from DHT, it doesn't mean you don't count it towards your uploaded/downloaded totals. e2e4e70c7b880811
I was sure I had it right, but there are couple of people on that forum who are so stridently opposed to DHT that I was beginning to doubt myself. I shall sally forth, fortified once more. Many thanks for the helpful and rapid replies.
