The only time that it did happen to me (less than a couple months ago) I did this and it worked (on Windows 7 64-bit):

 

Close uTorrent, go to %appdata%\uTorrent, right-click on resume.dat and go to the "Previous Versions" tab. Hopefully here you will find a backed-up version of that file. Choose one and restore it.

 

If you don't have anything on the "Previous Versions" tab you could try renaming the resume.dat.old file to resume.dat.
