Dexdiman Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 I see alot of people telling me to make sure I am forwarding the right ip, but I don't really know what that means. Please don't tell me to go to portforward.com I have looked all over that web site. My error message says: Checking port 23637 on 71.111.31.141...The ip being checked is my external ip. Is that what you mean by make sure you're forwarding the internal ip? Do I need to change that ip to my internal? If so, how? Thanks for the help
Switeck Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 More precisely, forwarding data hitting your router on your external (internet) ip TO your internal (LAN) ip of 192.168.whatever.whateverYour external (internet) ip does not matter, what matters is your router is told to forward data to the internal (LAN) ip that your computer uses.
Dexdiman Posted June 6, 2006 Author Report Posted June 6, 2006 How do I tell my router to forward the data?I have a Westell 6100Merged double post:Do I need to mess with anything like VC, DNS, DHCP, Private, or Public Configuration?
Switeck Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 I don't know, I don't have that brand of router.Perhaps this web link can help?:www.portforward.com...and in particular, this web link:http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Westell/Westell6100/Westell6100index.htm
Dexdiman Posted June 6, 2006 Author Report Posted June 6, 2006 I got it working and honestly I don't know what I did. I clicked on the static NAT buton and put in my internal ip and enabled it. Then I checked utorrent and the light was green and everything is working great.
