Mister Moisture
I've been using UT for years, but over the last 6 months or so, I find that after about 30 to 60 minutes of use, my PC bluescreens. I'm not a techie in the world of torrenting, but it seems to have only been since Ver 3.4.2 arrived. Older versions were fine. I could delay the crash by closing all other programs, but it would still happen eventually. When I reboot I get the standard Windows message that the PC shut down unexpectedly and opening it gives me this - Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BlueScreen OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1 Locale ID: 2057 Additional information about the problem: BCCode: d1 BCP1: 00797380 BCP2: 00000002 BCP3: 00000000 BCP4: 94C7999F OS Version: 6_1_7601 Service Pack: 1_0 Product: 256_1 Files that help describe the problem: C:\Windows\Minidump\121514-22796-01.dmp C:\Users\Stan\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-85265-0.sysdata.xml Read our privacy statement online: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=104288&clcid=0x0409 If the online privacy statement is not available, please read our privacy statement offline: C:\Windows\system32\en-US\erofflps.txt I'm not sure how to open the .dmp file and I can't attach it, so any advice as to how to open it and stick it on here would be appreciated. The .xml file is doesn't seem to be on the PC any more In the meantime, I've had to revert to 3.1.2 and this is working fine. Any ideas what is happening and what I could do? Mister Moisture
Hmm, and the editor on this board seems to have cut the bottom half of my original post off. I was asking what I could do to rectify the problem and how to open the .dmp file so I could post it here. The .xml file doesn't seem to be on my PC any more ... DreadWingKnight
It's not actually uTorrent as the root cause of the bluescreen. It's something else on your system, most likely your internet security software or your network adapter drivers.
Mister Moisture
Yes, I agree abut the network adaptor drivers, because it mentions something about that on the blue screen before - wlanGZG.sys and the address and base number. HOWEVER, since reverting to uTorrent 3.1.2 and been using it for over 24 hours without a hitch, it seems to me that there's some glitch or at least something awry with 3.4.2 and all its many variants. What can I do about the network adaptor drivers? They've all been updated to the latest versions. And why has this problem only started with UT 3.4.2 and no other version? Easiest answer - stay with 3.1.2 and uncheck auto-update ... BUT UT should really release new versions that actually work properly too ...
DreadWingKnight
They've all been updated to the latest versions.Through windows update or from the wireless adapter manufacturer's site?
Mister Moisture
Both - why?Is Windows update not so up to date? BTW, UT 3.1.2 has been running fine for over 36 hours now and nary a glitch. There seems to be some sort of nasty in 3.4.
DreadWingKnight
Is Windows update not so up to date?Exactly. I've seen Windows Update be as much as 6 months behind manufacturer websites. Whatever the glitch is, based on your provided bluescreen it's being caused by your wireless adapter or something leading up to it. Does the bluescreen persist with a wired connection?
