Refefer
One of my grievances with bittorrent is that the speed at which you download is often times limited by the number of connections you can make to peers and seeders. I have almost always found that if I increase the number of connections allowed per torrent, my download speeds will be consistently and significantly higher on average (which makes sense). The draw back to the increasing of connections is that the latency caused by having 300+ connections (occupied when downloading multiple files) kills my latency using any other application, timing it out webpages and kicking me off IM.I suggest an upgrade to the scheduler allowing the max number of connections (globally and per torrent) to fluctuate depending on the scheduler. DmpYrd
i second this request....usually a group of us download @ our office where others use the internet too during day time, initially i had set the connections per torrent to 250 which really bogged down our internet connection... now i manually set the limits during office hours & after hours & then start DL'ing...with this setting set according to schedule would be a great timesaver... Demon-boy
I was actually just about to request something similar. Instead, I was going to ask for an Alternate Max Global Connections When Not Downloading option, similar to the option for Alternate Up Rate When Not DLing. When I'm DLing I set Max Connections to 150, but when I'm seeding, it gets bogged down with all the connections so doesn't use my max speed, so I have to set the Global Connections to 30 (my up speed is piss-poor). An Alternate option would be a big help to me.
zedd
i would like to see this implemented to as it might stop my router from crashing, all so could reduce the connections for when other computers that are connected use the Internet
1c3d0g
Upgrade your router's firmware or buy a new one. :|Seriously, there's already a Global maximum number of connections (Options ▶ Preferences... ▶ Torrent Options). I don't see why you'd need an even greater amount of control... :?
Refefer
^ As I said in my previous entry, often times the speed of my download is dependent on the number of connections I'm allowing (and I've confimed this to be the same on a number of different setups with different pipelines) to achieve a relatively linear download/upload speed. Just like with the max speed, which is also editable through the options menu, it would be nice if you could have the scheduler control it.
