SATCHLINY Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 ive probably downloaded 4 or 5 torrents on this computer so far, no problems, but this one today gave me an error "cyclic redundancy check (hash)", think i typed that correctly.....i just hit 'start' on the torrent to continue download, it did this 3 times or so. that was a waste of time continuing because when the torrent was done, it was obviously corrupted as the install failed. so I tried re-downloading the torrent from new, but the CRC error came again after a short time, I knew it would be corrupted in the end so I gave up for now. i guess what i mean to ask is, i heard something about CRC errors being hard drive errors, but why did my computer just download different large torrents with no problems, including one earlier today, but this one is being problematic for me? there is no evidence in the comments about the torrent being bad or anything either...
DreadWingKnight Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 There's likely a specific part of your hard drive dying that wasn't being used by the torrents that weren't failing.
SATCHLINY Posted March 21, 2015 Author Report Posted March 21, 2015 There's likely a specific part of your hard drive dying that wasn't being used by the torrents that weren't failing. really, so its that sure a sign of hard drive failure? I just figured if it was about to burn out, any form of saving, downloading, etc. would be errors all over the place, at least half the time or something. jeez i better start backing up files to cloud an update, today I downloaded what seemed to be the exact same torrent, but a different uploader, worked fine no problems at all. now i've got to seed for a WHILE to get my ratio back up, after all that data downloading and failing.
