ArsenalFan Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 HiI have 2 machines and have started to download an 8GB torrent on one machine, but due to restrictions on my New Zealand DSL connection I chose to only download 1 of the 2 files on that torrent. Now I want to get the other file in that torrent downloaded on that same machine - is there a way of getting it done?Currently if I try and add the torrent again I only get the option to add the trackers, not select the other file.I want to get the 2nd file downloaded at the same time and at the moment my only option seems to be doing so on my 2nd machine, but the 2nd machine is my laptop which I use a lot - I don't want it tied up downloading torrents......I'm 50% of the way through the 1st file on my primary machine - I don't want to lose all that by removing the torrent and starting again of course.....And help will be much appreciated!ArsenalFan

ArsenalFan Posted June 18, 2006 Author Report Posted June 18, 2006 Thanks etc. So if I delete the .torrent file and not the data, will the file continue to download where it is now? The torrent is 8GB, 2x4GB files. I have about 2GB of the 1st file already...So if I delete the .torrent and keep the data, add the torrent again - will it continue to download the 1st file FROM the 2GB point I am already at?Thanks again!ArsenalFan
kurahashi Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 yeah how stupid is that - utorrent gives you a chance to select which files to download from a torrent only once and thats itwhile with every other client that supports that you can change your selection any time! And now check the Files tab and laugh together with us at your sooo authoritative (and stupid) answer http://utorrent.com/faq.php#Does_.C2.B5Torrent_allow_selective_file_downloading.3F
ArsenalFan Posted June 18, 2006 Author Report Posted June 18, 2006 SUPERB! I would not have thought of looking in there though to be honest, well obviously, as I wouldn't be on here asking otherwise! Thanks Kurahashi for sharing that!I right clicked and set the priority to high, down she comes!Cheers!

Ultima Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 Gee, were you not switching to another client? What's it to you now? Or do you want to continue using a "scam-infested" client? Or do you just enjoy trolling?lol, you're just like everyone else who was totally cool with µTorrent (some even saying everything is great about µTorrent), until some dirt (false, or exaggerated into the realm of falsehood) came into the picture. All of a sudden, everything's bad! That's cool too. Since you're so fickle, switching to another client shouldn't be too hard for you. No one cares for your complaints if they're just out of spite anyway.
Nefarious Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 actually, most of the bittorrent clients work that way, and seeing as most people fuck with piece distribution by using selective download anyway, is not about "user friendly" anymore

Ultima Posted June 22, 2006 Report Posted June 22, 2006 Yes of course, if you consider me remembering one of your posts as "keeping" all of them. Or maybe the forum database server has pictures of you in that secret room in its basement too -- hey, it keeps all your posts.
