macb555
Ok...I am new to utorrent. I read its excellent reviews and its "light" nature and decided to switch from BitComet 3 weeks ago. I have read most of the FAQs and most of the stickies but I still am having problems:Downloading and uploadinga) I do not get either a Network OK or a NAT error message on my screen; what is just for the older ver? i have utorrent ver 1.5 (build 437) I have hi-speed internet (modem: Zoom ADSL Model 5660 Ver 2.0.1-11; download speed: 1.6 Mbps, upload: 233 kbps) and I have the same modem connected to a wireless belkin pre-n router (model: F5D8230-4, firmware ver 1.01.03). So I have both LAN and wireless running at the same time on my pc (speed test done when both were running). only two other laptops connected to the wireless networkc) Win XP SP 2; dell inspiron 5100; pentium 4, 2.79 GHz, 512 MB RAMd) Firewall: I have always had my windows firewall on off. I have free Zone Alarm Ver 6.1.744.001 and sometimes PG2 and allow utorrent in bothe) Portforwarding: Big headache because I tried it so many times but does not work. I follow the instructions to the word but get stuck in some places e.g. I find out my wireless Ip address, but have to type the default: http://192.168.2.1/ to get to the setup page instead of the required http://192.168.2.x/ (my IP address; not the same). I setup the virtual server with the port and have tried using both my ip address and the default address, but both unsuccessful - port isn't forwarded. i get a mixture of red light & yellow lights at the bottom of the screen. Both allow downloading sometimes.so i think may be i can forward the port on my LAN modem. same prob: diff. ip address from the one to get onto the setup page. But one bigger prob: no "virtual server" tab as indicated on the pic uploaded on portforward.com; so I am stuck; no portforwarding happening here.Bottom line: can't portforward; get avg. 1-5 kB/s d/l TOTAL and upto 20 kB/s TOTAL upload speeds when I think I should definitely be getting more on my close to 256 upload internet connection.f) Internet browsing speeds get affected 90% of the times utorrent is on. e.g. typical pg loads 3sec; loads at 15 sec or more -I have read many posts on e) and f) and speeds and probs in general but none seem to work for me. sometimes restarting the pc helps; but only for the initial connection speeds; then everything drops back to the same. -i have tried disabling DHT; still no effect-earlier I used to get the upnp error message in logger; so deselected it under preferences; now i get the windows firewall error message: "error opening windows firewall 0x800706D9" - i dont know if this has anything to do with my prob-i have earlier received much better speeds e.g. 200 kB/s d/l in Bitcomet not with utorrent and this was without portforwarding. -i have followed the speed guide; but still not much diff; why is the max active torrent and max active downloads limited to 2 and 1; can't I increase it to a couple more?I may have missed some important pointer in solutions proposed earlier. so pls forgive me and help me out. u know how frustrating it can be sometimes when nothing works. if u need more info pls message...thanks in advance

macb555
Hi Ultima,Thanks for the reply! The router was the best rated on cnet.com and other places and so i got it. can't really afford to make another switch so soon. Today I did:1) static ip and portforwarding on my wireless connection (since i can't do it on my lan); I made both the TCP and UDP portforward2) using the tcp/ip optimizer3) repatch TCPIP.sys to 100 and net.max_halfopen to 704) deleted the settings and all other files and reconfigured utorrent using the speed guide.i have upnp unchecked and dht disabled since most of the torrents i d/l have new and have a lot of seeds n peers. My port is still not forwarded. I still get a red light at the bottom of the screen, and for my 1 torrent (seeds: 12 (74) peers:37 (1783)) still only get an avg. of 1-5 kB/s d/l TOTAL and 18-23 kB/s upload.I seemed to have tried most of the suggestions out there in other posts. I really want to utilize utorrent because its light, has great support on the forums (like u n all other admin n moderators) and just seems better than bitcomet, azureus, etc. could you pls help me out? thanks...
