Andrewk4 Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 My scheduler is not starting its downloads. It is set up to run at night, and there are 2 or 3 downloads in the queue, with no uploads, but when I check in the morning, nothing has started. I assume that the scheduler reads local time from my pc clock ? Force start seems to work ok, and everything works normal when the scheduler is turned off. Nothing is queued in the screenshots, but when anything is queued, it fails to start overnight. Running 3.4.2 on windows XP. Please see screenshots (in png!) and advise if I have done something wrong. thanks in advance.
TheLaw Posted May 13, 2015 Report Posted May 13, 2015 @Andrewk4 : If you already have 5 torrents, another download will not start anymore Take a look : Increase from 5 to 500 or more
Andrewk4 Posted July 30, 2015 Author Report Posted July 30, 2015 This problem has returned. 3 torrents are in the download window showing status as 'queued 0.0%' They will not start downloading when the scheduler says they should, even after 72 hrs there is no activity. Force start works fine. Why wont they start downloading overnight when they are scheduled to start? Thanks.
DreadWingKnight Posted July 30, 2015 Report Posted July 30, 2015 Your settings won't allow you more than 4 torrents active at once.
Andrewk4 Posted August 1, 2015 Author Report Posted August 1, 2015 I only have 3 torrents queued, and no other active torrents, and Im happy with 4 max for active. Why cant I get the 3 torrents to DL?
Andrewk4 Posted August 6, 2015 Author Report Posted August 6, 2015 Once I force started the first torrent, the second 2 torrents OK started as per the scheduler.But....They have now finished downloading and been removed, and then I added a new torrent, but it did not start overnight, even though it is the only torrent in the window. Is Windows XP the problem? Should I backgrade to an old version of utorrent?
Brandy Down Under Posted August 8, 2015 Report Posted August 8, 2015 Don't be greedy. Trying to download more torrents than your bandwidth will support is counter productive. Your uTorrent will send requests for file pieces to other clients for each of your active torrents. Those clients will try to download to you, but won't be able to do so if all those responses exceeds your bandwidth. Eventually, they'll get tired of your requests and add you to their Banned List. Now, you won't get anything from them even when other torrents complete and bandwidth is available. Use the uTorrent network test tool, and apply the recommended settings - or at least something close to those. Be patient. It's a virtue that I wish I had... Brandy
Andrewk4 Posted August 12, 2015 Author Report Posted August 12, 2015 Thats good info, I hadnt thought of that. My bandwidth averages only 1.5-4.5 mbps, so one torrent at a time is a good idea.3 Torrents at once may be the problem. Can I queue them to download one at a time somehow?
Brandy Down Under Posted August 23, 2015 Report Posted August 23, 2015 When I have a number of active torrents, the excess torrents will show in "Queued" status. When one of the downloading torrents completes, the top queued torrent will begin to download. If there are stuck torrents, uTorrent will realize that those torrents aren't really downloading and activate one or more of the queued torrents. It's pretty good at managing this. I've come to the conclusion that force-start and other attempts to improve throughput have a tendency to have the opposite result. I do move torrents up and down in the list according to my current priorities. Other than that, I now try to interfere as little as possible Brandy
