runey
Looks like my ISP has all known ports blocked... I've just spent a considerable amount of time checking every port between 49152 and 65535... They all come back as blocked... In fact the only port I can find open is 23 which is for Telnet....I have disabled Windows firewall just in case and have no other firewall software... I'm using a Linksys WRT54G with DD-WRTv23 firmware...I had everything working on port 32459 for a long time... I was always able to scan it as OPEN with Shields Up... Then one day the NAT error came up and the port now scans as CLOSED... My ISP will not return any e-mails on the matter...I can only assume they have now blocked it... They knew which port I was using as they originally opened it for me...So question is... Assuming that all available ports are blocked, what are my options? Thanks in advance
Ultima
Switch ISPs, they're obviously not into the whole "customer satisfaction" thing =T
Firon
Did you try connecting directly to the modem?
Klaus_1250
Switch ISP. If they block such ports, you'll also run into trouble with programs such as Skype. One thing you might try is a lower-range port between 6891 - 6901 for instance which is normally used by MSN / Windows Live Messenger for File Tranfers. If they also block those, definately switch. runey
Unfortunately I cannot switch ISPs as they are the only broadband ISP that service my area It's either this or 28k... They started off as a very customer orientated ISP but have recently gone down hill rapidly...Sorry I should have explained that this is a wireless broadband setup, so there is no modem as such... The Linksys WRT54G is setup in PPPoE mode...Here is a pic of my port forwarding just in case it helps...I have just realised that I have local IP addresses on both sides... 192.168.1.1 on LAN side and 192.168.2.108 on WAN side... As I understand it my ISP uses a series of towers which all users connect to, like a LAN... That LAN is then connected to the net... So it looks like I have a double NAT translation.... Ultima
How could there be no modem? Your router doesn't handle modem duties -- it only routes the packets. What is your router connected to (besides your computer and/or a hub)?
Klaus_1250
Hmm, I'm not sure if you can do anything about being double-NATted. Only thing I can come up with are tunnels, vpn's or proxie's where you get a dedicated ip. Which devices have those private ip's? How do you connect to the internet? ADSL? runey
My setup is this... One computer with a 10/100 LAN connected to the Linksys WRT54G... The Linksys WRT54G is connected to a 21dBi antenna and set up for PPPoE... There is no modem... It is not required as the ISP handle this on their end... Imagine it as internet sharing on a LAN connection... The ISP have the internet connection and have an internal LAN which all their users connect to... As long as you are connected to the internal LAN then you can 'share' the internet... No different than doing it in your own home except my closest link is 7.6km away...I hope I'm explaining myself properly... Networking is not exactly my area of expertise Yes I think tunnels may be my only option... I may set up a free one, which whilst slow, will at least prove if it will work... Ultima
Gotcha... There's likely nothing you can do about it in this case =T
runey
I was going to look at SocksCap and HTTP Tunnel... Apparently uTorrent has issues with SocksCap and someone suggested e-Border... However that doesn't seem to be available anymore, or has changed it's name (I think it may be called Premium Agent now)... So I'm looking at Proxifier now...Problem is, as I've said, networking isn't my thing Has anybody had any experience with Proxifier or HTTP Tunnel? Maybe you could point me in the right direction as to configuration... I'm wading through the documentation and various forums now, so I'll see how I go...Thanks in advance (again)
