Marckuz
Hey guys,I got a prob. For some reason I cant stay connected to the peers(seeders and leechers) for very long(not to mention when I do connect, the speeds usually stay at 0.1-2 kBs).On the other hand, they dont seem to have any problem connecting 2 me,so the up speeds are allways preety high. The peer list is allways reasonably full(out of 49 Seeders,I connect to 14.Is that good?),but I just cant dl from them for very long,or at very low speeds.Id appreciate any advice. stihia
You capped your upload speed, did you? If not, do some speed tests and choose your upload speed from the values shown in the Speed Guide.
Marckuz
I had tried that allready some time ago.Been that way since. No difference:|.Tnx for the suggestion anyway though.
psycovirus
Please provide us more information about ur problem.Information such as routers, security softwares and your internet connection. It might be ur tracker's problem too. Try testing with this torrent : Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake) Desktop CD (698MB)If u can download at good speeds, then it is the tracker's problem. DreadWingKnight
If u can download at good speeds, then it is the tracker's problem.Don't you mean "It's a problem with your settings or the torrents you're using"?The tracker has absolutely NO bearing on speeds. Marckuz
Oh oh.Better post quick b4 theres a technical debate!I dont have a router. The only security software Im currently using is the windows firewall. Its on,but I have uTorrent on the "exceptions" list.In Network Connections my internet connection is labeled as"Local Area Connecton"/"LAN or High-Speed internet".Anyway point is its by cable.Well I tried the torrent u posted, and yea, speeds were preety awsome(20-30kBs).So that means its the trackers fault? And does that mean theres nothin I can do about it? DreadWingKnight
So that means its the trackers fault? The tracker cannot be blamed for something it has no control over.Did you set up an incoming port exception for uT in windows' firewall?Start - run - cmd /k ipconfigWhat are the first two blocks (the x.x of x.x.y.y) from the IP address? Marckuz
Yea I did set an exception for the port im using.I didnt do it that way though(Start - run - cmd /k ipconfig),instead I went to Control Panel-Windows Firewall-Exceptions-Add Port,as was taught in another post.Is that ok?The first 2 blocks of my IP address are 196.46.Tnx for all the help, really. DreadWingKnight
Did you try the connection tester from the speed guide?
Marckuz
Yea about that...When I do it says Im behind a proxy, which I assume is my ISP.I enabled the protocol encription just in case , as was suggested in another post.I should mention that today the speeds seem to have improved slightly.Theyr still nothing special and preety erratic(usually its 2kBs-5kBs,but sometimes I have some spikes and get up to 10-20kBs,allthough only for a few minutes). So I dunno, maybe things have improved(if only slightly)and im connecting more easily as result of setting a firewall exception for the port, enabling protocol encryption and setting my connection type at 128kBs.Ill have to check back tomorrow to make sure this isnt just a spike. Switeck
You said "setting my connection type at 128kBs". Do note that the speed guide is setting your upload speed to match a 128 kilobit/sec (~12-14 KB/sec upload speed) upload bandwidth line. If you can't actually upload that fast, your download speeds will probably be less than 10 KB/sec.
Marckuz
Thats the thing , my download speeds were allways lower than 10KB.It seems the problem persists.Upload speeds still outweigh the dl speeds because,as Ive said, plenty of peers connect and download from me while I download from so few,at such nasty speeds, and for so little time. One thing though, sometimes I get the impression that when up speeds are high, then down speeds must b low and vice versa!Somebody tell me Im wrong cuz thats wat Im seein!Tnx for all the help so far! Switeck
What upload speed LIMITS are you using? If you set it too fast, download speeds WILL SUFFER.
Marckuz
I set my upload limit at 9 kBs,when I set my connection type at 128kBs.
Switeck
Ok, sounds good -- 128 kilobit/sec upload connection should be able to upload at 9 KiloBYTES/sec just fine....but just to be on the safe side, check µTorrent's speed graphs. If they're bottoming out some or even alot then there's probably overloads occuring. And just to rule out uploading-too-fast, try setting upload speed to only 6 KB/sec.
