viking2
I have used uTorrent for years w/o any problems. However, about 1 week ago it started to close/terminate a few seconds-minutes after starting (e.g. Maximized uTorrent window closes and process disappears from Task Manager). I have tried to reinstall and currently use v3.3.2 build 30260.Win7 - 64bit
viking2
I disabled NOD32 Antivirus and all components of the free Comodo Firewall, but uTorrent still crashes. I believe the the problems started after I had updated uTorrent (I don't have the old version anymore so I cannot confirm).
ciaobaby
(I don't have the old version anymore so I cannot confirm).Take a look in %APPDATA%/utorrent/updates for the earlier versions to test with.
viking2
I found an old version (utorrent_3.3_29677). I uninstalled the current version (v3.3.2) and installed v3.3. This fixed the issue. I guess that I will stick with this old version until this issue has been fixed (hopefully it will show as a bug-fix in the next version?) DreadWingKnight
The use of old versions is not supported.
viking2
The use of old versions is not supported. How do I get support for the new version (v3.3.2)? If I want to use uTorrent, my only solution was to downgrade as I could not figure out how to get v3.3.2. to work w/o crashing.
ciaobaby
until this issue has been fixed (hopefully it will show as a bug-fix in the next version?)It's probably going to be difficult to know when an unkown issue is going to be, or has been, fixed. DreadWingKnight
Nothing in windows' event viewer shows you anything that gives you what's happening? Also, http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=29748 both logs

I guess that I could do this later, after I am done downloading my current items, but only if you will have time to help...?
ciaobaby
Nothing relevant in event viewer. To be fair, you probably do not know what is "relevant" to an application 'crash', it can be many other things that appear totally unrelated to uTorrent that created the crash conditions. You need to note the time that uTorrent crashed, then look for ANY event that occured in the previous couple of minutes.but only if you will have time to help..If you provide the process and HJT logs as requested then we (using 'we' as in "the community", not necessarily specific individuals or a group of individuals), will be able to assist you. viking2
I tried to upgrade again from the working v.3.3. to the current version 3.4.1 (b30888) and uTorrent started to crash again. I went back to v3.3. and no more crashes. I wanted to follow the troubleshotting steps here: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=29748, but the link is not working anymore. What are the the trobleshooting steps (e.g. process and HJT logs according to "ciababy")? Does someone have a working link?
Firon
Do you have the crashdumps?
viking2
Do you have the crashdumps?Where are the crashdumps? Note that the problem, as descibed above, is that uTorrent just closes/terminates by itself (and newly added Torrents are gone when restarting). Note that the problem, as descibed above, is that uTorrent just closes/terminates by itself (and newly added Torrents are gone when restarting). Can someone please assist with this? I am not able to upgrade above v3.3. The newer versions just closes/terminates after a few seconds.
Kitsoran
I think crash dumps go to %appdata%\utorrent
viking2
I think crash dumps go to %appdata%\utorrentFound the directory. Not sure what they are called, but I found nothing with .dmp and/or crash in the name.
