HI ,

I m planning to shift to Utorrent , i downloaded the client, found it really small, wondering whether deliver all goods or not.

After completion i configured the proxy details (as i m behind proxy), then tried one of my earlier downloaded torrent (1 day earlier by using bitcomet 0.70) and to my surprise it found seeds instantly, then i started waiting that utorrent will download something, but even after 4 hours , it is unable to download a single bit, eventhough it is keep updating the no. of seeds/peers, but not downloading anything.

see screenshot attached for more details : -

I see a green light, Ran speed guide, in Test port forwarding it says "Port 23332 does not appear to be open" but i m using this port successfully with bitcomet, i tried other ports also , bt no help .

i think this software is not meant for proxy users. i m really frustrurated by this piece of software , as tried alot , and unable to get any solution.

After i installed 3.0 and it did the same thing as stated above to others, it shows seeds but there is not any downloading happening.

I myself got it working by taking and going into my personal firewall, which is the pc tools firewall for my computer and where it shows the utorrent.exe, i changed it from allow trusted to allow all in the settings, this has started the downloads happening now.

Hope this helps a few people with this issue. It does seems slow though and only about 10 kb d/l and 2 kb up.

/edit I went ahead and went for broke and installed the 3.1 beta, and it is working as it use too now. so after you adjust your normal firewall, just do the 3.1 beta, so far it is wide open once again.

getting around max d/l now and good uploads, so i will stick with this one for now, since it is at least working hella better than the 3.0 did.

Hi, I'm new here. I've read & tried many of the suggestions from this forum's various threads.

Utorrent worked fine for months until the last two weeks, when I now get 0.1kb/s max d/l speed on all torrents, when they are working at all.

I've read the faqs, tried all the ones where I could understand what I was being instructed to do, nothing works. Firewall disabled, tried all the settings in the setup guide etc. Now when I run the set up tests, utorrent doesn't connect to any of the servers on its drop-down list. They either say "connection timed out 10060," or "Lookup error: No such host is known (11001)." My port is forwarded, 56678, and this works in the tests.

Unfortunately, this is a Windows 7 machine. ISP is Orange. I'm in the UK.

So you ran the Speed Guide properly? Your port is forwarded properly in the Speed Guide? Enabled Protocol Encryption?
By "Speed Guide," do you mean the uTorrent setup guide?

Protocol Encryption is enabled.

I really would appreciate any help.

I tried uninstalling uTorrent, but I can't because this stupid, unworkable OS claims that uTorrent is not installed on this machine (I'm running uTorrent right now, actually; Windows 7 really blows like nothing I've ever seen before), so it doesn't show up in the installed programs list in the Control Panel.

Baffled, frustrated and bored with all this.

Please offer some assistance. The closer you can get to Plain English, the better - I have some technical knowledge, but I'd rather you treat me as a non-specialist, so I'll have a better chance of understanding the instructions.

Like I said, it was working fine until two weeks ago. Nothing has been changed to make it stop working, unless Windows 7 has installed some crappy updates without asking me. Which is entirely possible, I suppose, given what a truly dismal OS it is.

What internet security software do you have installed?

AVG Free Edition 2012.

Posted in old thread by mistake, it just was the most relevant seeming thread that I found through your forum's search function. If you have a link to a more current thread, I'll be happy to start using that one instead.

And why did you post in a thread that was FIVE YEARS OLD?

actually 2 years, but yea I noticed it after I had posted it, after that. So it's my fault, but as stumblin said, it seems the most accurate description of my problem.

Basically make sure that your router and modem have the ports forwarded also stumblin.

If you need to dread send us a link to a more up to date thread. Not just a general problem thread plz.
