If you're talking about the confusing "swarm-spider" in Azureus, I didn't see the reason for it (except that it totally crashed the program)

IMHO just another gimmick with no real purpose other than wasting processortime

pfft. We don't have a progress bar (transfer view, not in general tab) and you're asking for a graphical swarm thingy? It's useless and slow... I so no point in implementing this.

Why don't you stick to Azereus if you like that kind of kinky stuff.

µTorrent != Azureus, so I don't see the need to implement everything that Azureus has. And IMHO, this feature is worthless.

This is a useless feature, the peer tab is much more helpful. Let's keep the bloat out from µTorrent, and let other clients handle that...

agreed. Imagine you have 5000 peers in the swarm (for example, some linux torrents). You want a diagram for that?!

I agree with 1c3d0g though: there is no need to copy azureus. That would be plain horrible.

Isn't that why µTorrent was made? A decent client that gets you what you want, as best as possible, using minimal amount of useless trash.

Simple (pie) charts of peer country distribution and country specific upload/download speeds could be nice to have. Current peer list is bit too detailed when it comes to torrents with large number of peers.

Eh, this would be cool, but increase the file size grately, so no.

That, and what the original post wanted would probably require a graphics rendering engine of some sort to be compiled with the program and the developer has said over and over again that he doesn't want to bloat the software. µTorrent is so fast and lightweight by design and all sorts of graphical rendering would most likely cause a lot of bloat.

I'm not knocking the feature request. I think it would look cool too but I would much, much rather have a fast, lightweight bit torrent client that I found after nearly 2 years of desperate searching of Google and forums.

we surely dont need that kind of diagram tht will eat a lot of memory. wht i wanted was somethin simple but it seems tht a lot of people dont want it so i will stay with the public demand

I don't really care if we have a big honking diagram like the swarm diagram or not, but here's what the swarm diagram does for me, and why I find it useful.

The swarm diagram will show you how far along a given piece is, and how fast a given client is sending pieces. This is different from the overall speed the client may be sending at. I like to be able to see how many pieces appear to be stalled, and whether or not I have to do something to shake things up.

It just gives a good overall feel of the flow of data to and from your system, and I find that comforting. Maybe you find that useless, but I don't. Maybe something else can be created that does the same thing without the clunky graph, but I find it a very elegant solution to the simple "glance to see how my system is doing" problem.

What if we implemented it with ASCII art??

I'm not really advocating such a thing, but it's kinda funny to think about lol
