Choose files on torrent open

When opening torrents containing large numbers of files, and you only want some of the files it is more convienient to choose which files you want before you actually start downloading the torrent (a la BitComet).

Perhaps a entry in the file menu labeled something like "Add torrent (choose files)". This way the default action is just to download all files without prompting but it is also possible to choose the files before starting to download.

I'd like to see this feature too. Also, the file chooser window don't have to pop up, if the torrent contains only one file.

Disheartening that this doesn't already exist. I was just checking out utorrent's forums before I downloaded the client. If this doesn't exist then I might as well stick to the client I already have until utorrent grows into it's own a little more.

Seconded. I'm amazed that even most of the more robust clients like Azureus miss this feature. BitComet has it so beautifully done... implement this and I'll switch over!

Before you download a torrent, you'd still have to select where you want to save it anyhow. It doesn't hurt so much to put the option to select files into the dialog as well.

actually, lloks like the most requested features are this one,

some more control of individual seeding speeds/stop seeding

and some more organizing torrents by folders.

if utorrents get those, than it will be by far the best client.

so u mean all of you are too damn lazy to click the mouse on the files tab and then select multiple files and click do not download.

I think the best workaround for this is to have your torrents added in stopped mode. This method is fairly easy to get used to (I have), so maybe this feature is unneeded (contrary to my previous vote for this feature)...

This is a very convenient feature to have. One of the reasons I use BitComet. Most torrents I download have samples that I always chose not to download. It's a good reminder when I start a torrent with files I don't want. It's a simple feature, too.

It's a nice feature and should be easy to implement as file skipping is already in there. Nice to know this is going to be added, definitly a useable feature that doesnt need much hard work nor any increase in resource usage

yeah this is indeed a great feature and it's the one stopping me from swithching to utorrent. can't wait to see it implemented

to all those saying this is already covered by going to the files tab and select do not download i have to say: not true. first of all the way this is implemented in bitcomet is far more practical (select all, unselect...). more importantly though bitcomet only needs as much space on the hdd as ONLY the files you have selected to download need and not like utorrent or azureus which still need space for the complete torrent even if you only select a 100kb file out of a 5gb torrent (try deleting those dummy not-to-be-downloade files that azureus makes and it stops working giving an error, while bitcomet is more robust and doesn't care at all about any other files except for those it is actually downloading or seeding = much better obviously). oh yeah bitcomet does so even though i have "allocate disk space before downloading" activated, so that's not the solution either.

other than that utorrent is great and i cant wait to switch over completely, keep up the good work

I would also like to see this feature. It's perhaps the ONLY thing that is missing in utorrent currently. Otherwise, by far the best torrent client around.
