Monkeybob
uTorrent keeps checking all the downloads every time it gets restarted. It only checks one torrent at a time and when each torrent is between 4 and 8 GB it takes ages. Is there a way to make it skip the checking or make it check more than one torrent at a time? Falcon4
You can't check more than one at a time because hard drives cannot multitask - they can only do one read at a time. If you throw two reads at it at the same time, you get drive-destroying head thrashing as it tries to read a small part of one file, a small part of another, back to the first, back to the second, hundreds of times a second. Bad idea, and it slows them both down to a crawl. uTorrent is being smart by doing only one at a time (and I'm thankful for that). As for your rechecking thing, that's a problem. I'll let someone else handle that though. I just had to get the hard drive thing out of the way first...
ajones81
Options / Preferences / Advanced / Set bt.graceful_shutdown to True and check if the problem persists. How is uTorrent being shut down? Do you shut down Windows while uTorrent is running? Is there an improper shutdown happening at all?
Invy
Ok i'm not sure why but I had this problem for no reason. I think this is a bug in 1.7.2 because i've never encoutered this before and many people are having this problem.
ajones81
Well, since it's not happening to everyone, and you're sure earlier versions weren't prone to it, it must be something that's been added that's hardware-specific I guess?BTW, did that option solve your problem?
