shod
Hi,I downloaded uTorrent 1.2.2 and the download speed is very slow. For example, it doesn't go over 3 kB/s for the last episode of the simpsons. I used to have BitTornado and there I downloaded such files at 50 kB/s at least. There is no problem with the upload speed though. On the status bar I see: Network OK.I didn't change any of the default values. Can anyone help please?Thanx... Animorc
Try the torrent in my signature. And if that one is slow as well, post your settings. (It could be good if you did that anyway )Edit: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=2749
shod
The speed I get from that torrent is between 20-30 kB/s, my max speed should be around 190...Port for incoming connections: 17926Enable UPnP port mapping (checked)Global maximum upload rate: 10Global maximum number of connections: 200Maximum number of connected peers per torrent: 50Number of upload slots per torrent: 4Enable DHT/for new torrents (both checked)I don't think I have a router (how can I check that?)And why does it pre-allocate the files although "pre-allocate disk space" is unchecked?Thanx for your time... dudeboyz
I would go to [removed link to illegal content] and download one of their top 100 torrents for something like [removed] tv shows and then try downloading them both at the same time.I have a 384kbit max upload speed and I set it to 30kByte in the Utorrent config so that it doesn't saturate my bandwidth, and that seems to help.I would consider changing the port to something like 31365 or 47324 or something unique and higher like that, as some ISP's block out the lower ports that are commonly used for torrent downloading.Good luck. Animorc
If the OpenOffice torrent ran that slow, there's something with your settings I suppose. And I would say that the port is alright, but change it to something higher anyway as dudeboyz said. Also, I don't think you need to have UPnP checked. Not that it will matter. You might also want to enable peer.lazy_bítfield in Advanced Options. And you can check if you have a router by following this:Start -> Run -> "command" -> [Enter] -> "ipconfig" -> [Enter].If you see something like 192.168.xxx.xxx behind IP Address, you're behind a router. But I doubt it, since the statusbar is marked with Network OK.Also, how many seeds/peers were you able to connect to when you tried the torrent in my sig? shod
I was connected to about 40 seeds and 5 peers. It still doesn't work properly...
Animorc
If you increase "Maximum number of connected peers per torrent" to 150, do you receive faster speeds then? (Go for the OpenOffice torrent again since it's reliable)

shod
OK, now this torrent is around 50-60 kB/s, i'm connected to 95 seeds. But other torrents still don't work well, although there are hundreds of seeds.
madascheese
i get the same problem, really popular torrents like Oo, do get my full 120k dl (am on 1024dl, 128ul btw) but torrets that are a "little" less popular never, ever, go above 40k (ul speed is maxed out as soon as i start the torrent, on every torrent.)i personally think uTorrent doesn't like ppl with a conection less then 4mb.[For Refrence]Network is "OK"i have no router, or firewallam on WinXP fully uptodateam on the latest drivers for my motherboard manu.My Connection:[DL] 1MB, max is 1280kb[uL] 128kb max is 16kb.my Config, for refrence:[Network Options]Port: 52525Random: "Un"checkedUnPnP: "Un"checkedMax UL: 12Al UL: 0Max DL: 0[Torrent Options]Max Connections: 128Per Torrent: 77Additional Slots: "Un"checkedActive Torrent: 2Active Downloads: 1DHT: checkedDHT New: checkedPre-allowcate: checked[Advanced Options]net.low_cpu: Falsenet.max_halfopen: 99 (WinXP is patched to 100)peer.lazy_bitfield: True..All other options are Defaulted.. Animorc
You should set your upload limit to 10kB/s.Also, reduce your net.max_halfopen to 90 if you think you need that much. I'm using 60 on a 10Mbps line. And if the OpenOffice torrent runs fast, there's nothing wrong with µTorrent.Edit: I haven't noticed anything about µTorrent prioritizing 4+Mbps peers. chaosblade
Try changing the write queue size (it should be -1) to something else, 4000, or 8000. Maybe it's causing the issues.I noticed you set lazy bitfield on. Is your ISP known to cause problems with BT traffic ?
Firon
No it won't, changing the queue size can only have an effect on HIGH speed connection (several MiB/s), and only if it says Disk Overloaded.

Firon
With "16kb" download, your actual throughput is closer to 13KiB/s. Setting it to 12 will choke your connection and kill your download. Use 10. Hell, I used 9 when I had 128kbps upload.
1c3d0g
Firon: that's the exact same setting I use (I'm still on 128Kb/s up)! Madascheese: I don't believe Animorc is in a different galaxy, but I am. Besides, it was good advice, and you can either follow it or use whatever floats your boat... :|
harman
Hey,I too have speed problems. It is cyclical in a way, my dl speed will be steady (but very slow at around 10kB/s) then trail off to 0, and then after a few moments will pick back up again.I took a screen shot of the speed logger but don't know how to display links to my documents here.I would really appreciate any help, as my internet is max download speed, I also have an unlimited amount of data to use but it literally takes weeks to download a 4GB file!I am having frequent timeouts, (Page cannot be displayed) when I use the net at the same time as uToreent. Thanks heaps,My computer details:Windows XP SP2, Home EditionPentium 4 CPU 3.2GHz512MB of RAMAVG Anti VirusInternet Connnection DetailsISP: Xtra (New Zealand)Down: Maximium "As fast as your line allows".
