sinusoidal dl/ul speed

Recommended Posts

hello, i have a problem with my uTorrent 2.0 beta - speed jumps strangely.

please look at the screenshot:

http://img682.imageshack.us/img682/4648/91850194.png

os: win7 x64

firewall: comodo IS

connection: ethernet, no routing devices.

sorry if this theme is similar to some earlier created, didn't found anything helpful with search.

--upd:

after changing bt.transp_disposition to 5 (was 13) speed became constant and LOW (somwhere around minimums of red graph at screenshot)

and problem still not solved

disk is not overloaded

real connection speed: 100mbits on ISP's LAN and on city traffic-exchange (most active torrents you see on screenshot are city-IX), 7 mbits on all other resources.

max number of connections: 100

connected peers per torrent: 10

upload slots: 10

net.low_cpu = false

ok, and also i see now that changing bt.transp_disposition didn't not fixed local peer problems:

i 've readed my "main" tracker topics about uTorrent and "wavering" speed, and here is result:

i'm not alone with that problem - first time when problem has been detected was a moment when people upgraded from 1.8.2 to 1.8.3.

They are saying, that when they downgraded to 1.8.2, everything changed back to normal state.

Have you tried disabling UPnP, NAT-PMP, and Resolve IPs?

Lowered bt.connect_speed to only attempting 1-4 outgoing peer/seed connections per second?

(Incoming connections do not count against that limit.)

Are you disconnecting from peers/seeds quickly or often?

Your real max international upload seems to only be about 2 megabit/sec (200-something KiloBYTES/second on your speed graph). Setting upload max to 2000 KiloBYTES/second probably aggravates the problem and triggers the wavy resulting speeds.

It's very strange, but now everything is ok - i can't even start changing any settings to check the speed graph, because i won't see the differene - speed is approximately constant

UPnP, NAT-PMP - disabled

Resolve IPs - enabled

bt.connect_speed - 20

peers, who are connected via ipv6 are disconnecting and reconnecing often and usually have low speed. ipv4's are ok.

no, my real international speed is not 2mbit - it's 7, i have checked and rechecked that.

also, i already said, that most connections on my first screenshot were city-IX, not international.

Maybe, the problem is causing by overloaded city traffic exchange point, because i have secondary uTorrent, which is running for "international" trackers - and it works ok with same settings. i should check it out.

as i said, i dont know (i didn't change anything since i changed bt.transp_disposition), and i cant test it since speed became normal.

but, it would be safe to say that it's not my isp's international speed problem - here is my secondary uT, which works only for international torrents:

http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/6931/53815240.png

as i mentioned above, most connections at first screenshot were city-IX, so it may be exchange point problem. but, it not solves the local peer problem at post #4 ( http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/8071/19800653.png )

i have no local speed problems, so probably it caused by uT or it's settings, finally.

--upd

oh, wait.. i think i've changed queueing settings a few moments after changing bt.transp_disposition...

they were about 50 active torrents / 15 dl torrents (i don't remember)

and now it's 300 active and 100 downloading..

but i don't know how it could corrupt my speed, because i had less than 50 active torrents that moment.
