Installtion different versions of utorrent simultaneously

Hi.

I would like to have different versions of µTorrent installed.

So I startet with 1.6.1. Renamed "utorrent.exe" in "utorrent 1.6.1.exe", installed 1.8.5, renamed "utorrent.exe" in "utorrent 1.8.5.exe" and so on.

The problem is, that utorrent 1.8.5 always starts it's installation routine as if it wasn't installed.

I can switch between 2.0, 2.1, 1.6.1 without any problems. Only 1.8.5 shows that behaviour.

How can I fix it?

go through the 1.8.5 installation routine once telling uTorrent to NOT place it in a specific folder.

And don't use 1.6.1 at all. There are known security exploits for it.

Yes. I don't really use the 1.6.1. It's just there for comparision reasons.

I only switch between 2.0 (RC4) and 1.8.5. (17414)

Do you mean, putting in all the data form %APPDATA%/utorrent into the same directory as the utorrent.exe and the starting it with the /recover parameter?

I don't want to do that, because synchronizing the different folders would be more work then clicking through the installation assistent of 1.8.5 again and again....

The 1.8.5 works. With all my settings an Torrents. But I always have to click myself through the install wizard.

When I'm done with it, it works like it should. Bit when I close 1.8.5, start a different version, exit that one and start 1.8.5 again, then there is this installation routine again

Bleh, that may be a bug with the other versions "corrupting" the dat files as far as v1.8.5 is concerned so it can't read them.

But the settings/torrents are correct when I start the 1.8.5.

In short, you're screwed and there's nothing I can do about it.

It bothers me, that it works flawless with the newer versions.

Even a new profile doesn't work.

Am I really the only one with this problem?
