renaming the exe doesn't solve my problem. I want to get rid of that crap completely, not just rename the exe so it doesn't start.

No, i'm perfectly aware of edge's settings, it's the first thing I disable. I only noticed webview and a couple other related processes running after I started the latest version of utorrent. closed utorrent, uninstalled webview and started utorrent again, the webview junk got installed again by itself.

is it possible to get rid of the webview crap? it keeps running inthe BG and using valuable system resources EVEN while ut is not runing. If I uninstall it, it comes back again. I don't want that crap on my PC. I already have edge installed, why doesn't ut make use of it, instead of installing the webview junk????

the easiest way is to launch "genericsetup.exe", but not install anything. just leave it there and go to your %temp% folder and grab "carrier.exe" from there.

where/how did you get the 46148 installer? I tried the official link like 50 times and always got build 46096... edit: never mind, I got it elsewhere and I confirm your findings. plus, the file "genericsetup.exe" is dated nov/2021, signed on 15/nov.

does someone have a working link for build 46020??? because, until now, everytime I click i get build 46010. tried dozens of times, always 46010... nevermind. this one http://download-new.utorrent.com/uuid/10bf2990-3b23-45a0-a8e8-fd24c0d701a9 worked...

just open it with 7-zip and extract the file "carrier.exe" and rename it to "utorrent.exe" and you're good to go. just check if it is the right version, the official link almost always gets an old version,you have to try several (maybe dozens of) times.

that so-called installer is an ONLINE installer. we need the regular installer, the one that's about 4,5MB in size, but as usual, the utorrent servers ARE CRAP and we get older versions.

what do you mean??? that your ALREADY downloaded torrents disppeared or the currently downloading torrents?

if you still have the .torrent files, just re-open them and utorrent should check your torrents and continue where it left off.

build 45660 is out. And, due to some miracle, I got the installer on the first attemp.

The builds that mike posts here are (at least according to him), stable, not "test builds" and whatnot.
