Why is build 30544 200k bigger than the previous one?
-
You never told me these' date='[/quote']
Try READING the threads that TELL you what they are then!!
I never read ANYTHING that could contradict what I SAY!!
YOU are ANGRY!!
-
There is a good reason why people prefer older versions.
They are incapable of using good settings.
You never told me these, bitch.
-
Seems like they're back again: http://www.utorrent.com/downloads/linux

@wouldou, fugly*. Not ugly.

In short, my humble opinion is, Bitorrent Inc is paying incompetend devs who simply cannot work on such a project. This is one of major roots of problems.
Well, it doesn't necessarily mean they're incompetent, it might just be they don't test the new builds so much or just don't care about fixing the bugs they've left after their changes.

On a second thought, maybe the node itself should be left for backward compatibility - for those who have some apps installed. But in this case - F9 - should be there too, possibly left unchecked as default, for those people that do not have any app installed.
Ok. And did you actually read the OP before you had this wonderful second thought?:
Next, we streamlined µTorrent features by eliminating underused and non-core features, including Apps and Find Content, the dual list view and the "getting started" tab. -
3.3 already completely removed the app shit so that's a start:

The question is: did it use 3.2.2 as a base, or 3.3 :/
What do you think?
-
yeah' date=' but they don't remove already added bloat.[/quote']instead of adding useless new features (bloat)Why do you care ? As long as you can disable or just not use whatever you don't like! Is there any specific "bloat" that you *must* use?
Yeah! Defend utorrent no matter how useless feautures start bloating the binary up!

C. Seriously? You don't see why a 300MB file is not desirable as settings (and no, I cannot purge 300M of lines)?... I do.
Yours actually grew all the way up to 300MB as well?
And I was never suggesting to actually _use_ it in that condition anyway.
-
Because:
A. I don't intend to set the client again and again and again whenever this file stupidly auto-corrupts itself
B. There are other releases out there w/o this issue...
C. I know that a fix is coming up soon.
Well,
A: It wasn't really _corrupting_ itself. Even if it blew to all the way up to hundreds of megabytes you could've still probably cleared the redundant lines.
B. To which you could've imported those settings to with this method.
C. Yeah, it did, but I don't see why is it so important to start with a clean settings.dat when the alternative is to just use the one you already configured for yourself.
-
What for ? It's a bug. Better wait till they fix it.
Why? Even if they made some magical settings.dat cleaner why would you want to wait until they do?
The workaround I discovered works just fine. He said clicking *OK* freezes utorrent. Quitting might not. This way you can preserve your settings.
-
atm my settings.dat is over 300mb
Did you try what I suggested? Deleting/renaming/moving the settings.dat and relaunching utorrent?
-
You can just remove the settings.dat and retick some setting (or relaunch utorrent) to recreate it but you'll still see how it just keeps growing by something like 600 bytes for every press of the *Apply* or *OK* button (even if you don't change anything).
E: And by the way, I mean it will be re-created with your custom settings.

The "minor fixes and improvements" description was promising but the torrent labels are all messed up.
-
Such high expectations for alpha software (regressions can happen upon every single new release and sometimes the application might not even start up). Just fall back to either the previous alpha or the latest beta or stable version.
That's what the wise people do.
-
It does crash when creating a new torrent... well it's alpha .
-
You'll probably wanna use the most recent emulation option, honestly. A lot of compatibility stuff is there for older OSes.
That never even crossed my mind, which makes me feel quite dumb. I take it there's not much of a difference with using e.g. xp and win 7 emulations, though?
-
The latest alpha now requires at least Windows NT 3.5 (NT) emulation in Wine to work. All the former ones were fine with "Windows 2.0". This is not a complaint, just a note for those using Wine.
