gfrobe Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 As subject says, I updated the firmware on my dlink DI-624 and it wiped out all of my settings. I was just getting ready to reset the port forwarding but ran the check in Utorrent and it says that the port I use is open and accepting connections. This open port is not listed in my D-link settings so how could it be open? Also, how would I now go about closing it or changing the port number if I wanted to? Thanks.
Ultima Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 Hm... sounds odd... is the firewall disabled on the router?
gfrobe Posted July 29, 2006 Author Report Posted July 29, 2006 Hmm.. I'm not really sure to be honest. I go to the firewall setting and both the enabled and disabled buttons are blank. However, there does seem to be a rule there that allows utorrent through on that port but all the check mark next to the rules are greyed out. I don't know why those firewall settings were not wiped out when I updated the firmware. As you can see, I'm pretty clueless about all of this. If I'm using Zone Alarm, should I also have my router firewall on? And if the firewall is off, does that mean I don't need to forward the ports?
Ultima Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 Hardware firewall > software firewallYou probably do still need to forward, but since the rule's already there...
