µTorrent keeps crashing - help a newbie please!

Hi there,

Any help would be greatly appreciated (in simple terms please)...

Have been happily using µTorrent until yesterday when I suddenly could not go more than about 2mins in the middle of a download (at just over 80%) without the whole thing crashing + sending me back to 80% again...

Keep getting same message;

µTorrent.exe - Application Error

The instruction at "0x00000000" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read". Clcik OK to terminate the program. Click CANCEL to debug the program.

Sorry, but am not great with these things, so some simple advice re what is going wrong + how I can try and fix it would be mucho appreciated...

Seams like:

1) your RAM is crappy (google for a free RAM test software) or

2) your HDD is dying (google for a free HDD test software acc. to your manufacturer too).

Explanation:

utorrent first writes everything into the RAM, after a while onto HDD. So this error "reading" points to the RAM.

But when seeding, utorrent reads data from HDD, so this error points to your HDD.

But what is sure: it's not an error of utorrent ...
