run time problem

As a newcomer to torrent downloading, I could do with a bit of advice about things that happen when using utorrent. The first thing is when I try to open the folder where I put downloads, I get a warning box telling me I have a run time problem. When I close the warning box, my pc takes a few minutes to reset. The other small niggle is that often when running utorrent the line drops on a regular basis. Any advice please.

For the internet disconnections, check the first link in my signature. As for the error... erm... I'm not sure, so I'll just ask some random questions. What operating system are you using? Have you checked the incompatible softwares list in the FAQ?

Thanks for the speedy and helpful reply, I will do as you suggest. I am using XP Pro with service pack 2., some one suggested that the run time problem may be related to Java, I have downloaded the latest Java software but the problem remains.

µTorrent makes no use of Java, so it's entirely unrelated. What about my question about incompatible softwares?

Thanks again for your help, I am going to spend some time today looking into your suggestions. Funny thing though is the problem with the line dropping seems to have stopped for a while. I am sure it is caused by BT's home hubs built in firewall, because my own firewall , Avast seems quite happy.
