glock17 Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 Recently there have been some issues with my PC. Sometimes also my wife uses turns it off "the wrong way" (noise from PC at night, holds the power-btn...).Well. Problem is that torrents that was on the download-list dissaper after the PC crashing or turned off. If I quit µTorrent the correct way they are OK. I have to reload the torrentfiles etc, so the files themself are there.
Ultima Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 If your computer crashes while you're in the middle of compressing a file using WinRAR (for example), and it turns out (unsurprisingly) that the file is corrupt when you restart your comptuer, would you say that you found a bug with WinRAR?
glock17 Posted January 17, 2007 Author Report Posted January 17, 2007 This is not the same. If I use a another BT-client, starts some downloads, and press the reset-button on the PC, I will be able to resume the downloads when the system is started up again. The files that I download are there, but after a crash I need to reload .torrent-files into µTorrent. But: If I start µTorrent, download some Torrents-files and start downloading, Exit µTorrent, Start µTorrent and then just reset the PC -- the Torrents will be there. But if if µTorrent havn't been "manualy restarted" before the PC crash/is reseted/Turned off, the torrents will dissaper from the download-list in µTorrent.
Ultima Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 µTorrent writes to resume.dat periodically. If it is forced to exit while in the middle of writing to that file, the behavior you're experiencing will occur, as the resume.dat file will get corrupted.
