utorrent.exe -Corrupt File The File or directory C:\DOCUM ~1\Aaron\App

Hey, this is the first time I've ever used these forums because well I've never had problems with utorrent ever before, and I've had this program for over six months now. I looked at a few pages on this forums and didn't see my problem talked about, so I decided to start a new post if that's alright with the mods on this forum. Anyway

Like I said I've had no problems with utorrent ever before, but when I woke up today, and turn on my utorrent to do a little seeding, the second I turn the program on, I get this exact message

utorrent.exe -Corrupt File

The File or directory C:\DOCUM ~1\Aaron\ApplicationData\uTorrent\resume.dat.old is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility

Will someone please tell me what that means, and what I should do to correct the problem please? I'm sure it's some simple problem simply corrected, I'm just not connecting the dots is all. I can't figure out where the chkdsk utility is at.

So if someone could please help me, I would be most thankful

Thank you very much for your time.

  • 1 year later...

hi, I'm in the same boat as Paine71 and djxcqtion.

I tried Ultima's suggestion: Start > Run > cmd /k chkdsk /F

This did not work for me, even upon re-start (after scheduling for re-start).

It's been suggested elsewhere on this form that perhaps at this point I have bad sector and need to run something like Spinrite.

If Spinrite (or similar) is necessary, are there any freeware type programmes that might do for me what Spinrite might do for me. I'm trying to figure out a way to get rid of the pop up bubble without having to buy a programme just for that one thing.

Thank you all,

headquarters.
