re speeds and isp

hi just wanted to let people know, i was on 512 but upgraded to 8mb ,bt told me i could only be able to get 2mb, i upgraded in nov 06 , and was getting disconnected all the time and slow speeds bt engineer came out three times as in the evening i was only getting dial-up speeds , he told me adsl max is unstable and under 1mb they do not do traffic shaping, so i have gone onto 1mb and fixed line and have that speed 24/7 now , i have been going round in circles with bt and my isp since nov , just incase this might help any1 else with slow speeds.
