uTorrent in 1 computer while gaming in other computer = Total LAG

I got 3 computers in the house. I use one to download from uTorrent and the

other 2 computers I use to play games. Whenever I download from uTorrent and

while I'm playing game (counter-strike 1.6) on the other computer I spike/lag

a lot and when I turn off uTorrent my game speed goes back to normal. How

come this happens? Is there a way around this so that I can download from

uTorrent and play games at the same time and not lag? If so please post

ASAP.

Running utorrent needs bandwith. Playing Counter-Strike needs bandwith too. Playing Counter-Strike on two PC's needs much more bandwith.

So you have to configure utorrent (throttling upload and download) to have enough bandwith for playing.

Perhaps you should use only 50% up to 70% of your bandwith for utorrent?

Depending on the speed of your connection you may need to limit the upload and possibly download speeds on your torrents while playing, or even stop them all together (Right click the tray icon -> Pause all torrents is handy for this).

I only have 128k (16kB/s) upload, and my CS rates are set up to get the most out of my connection, so I can't run torrents at all without noticing lag in CS.

Depending on the speed of your connection may be able to run torrents while you play - http://www.speedtest.net to test your speed - make sure you're not running torrents while you test it.

Edit: The scheduler can be handy for this, set the limits that allow you to play smoothly, then just turn the scheduler on when you play, and back off afterwards.
