neverbemine
Hi everyone…I am having this problem…lately when I'm playing any music file from my hard drive in any player (Windows Media Player 10 / ITune 7.0) ….if µTorrent is on, I find regular unexpected noises and the music gets somewhat slower than the usual ( don't know how to explain:( )…sometimes it keeps looping for a few seconds…I have used µTorrent1.6.1 and 1.7 and have the same problem…I am using Windows XP Pro, 160 GB of hard disk with about 50% free, 1 GB Ram, 3.06 Ghz Pentium 4 processor and my download speed is 4-6 KB…let me know if you have any other question about my system…..I have searched this forum as well as google to find something about this problem but no luck yet…so I'm sorry if the topic is already answered or something….please help me!!! Ultima
Check both the primary and secondary controllers...Also, get Process Explorer from sysinternals.com, run it, File > Save, then post the contents of the saved process list in the .txt file here. Do check if any process is running at an abnormally high CPU usage while you're playing music.

Ultima
Hm, I've seen people having problems with DPC before, but I don't really remember if there was a solution...Edit: http://utorrent.com/faq.php#I_get_very_high_CPU_use_when_running_.C2.B5Torrent.21McAfee might be a possible culprit, as usual... Try killing some processes to see if the DPC spikes stop.
jsmp01
Are you downloading and playing on the same drive? I had a similar problem and I believe it was down to when the drive was trying to read and write at the same time in different locations. If you have to physical hard drives in your computer try using one to download and one to do other things from, it doesn't help that iTunes and WMP are quite heavy resource hogs as media players go... neverbemine
I've tried terminating processes but doesnt improve anything ( I do not get very high CPU usage ...just between 2-10% with 44 processes including utorrent and Windows media player)...And yes same drive, I was guessing that may be the problem had something to do with that too...I will test some other audio players to see if there's any change....too bad I dont have any differernt drive but I have an IPod so for time being I'm using it to listen to music LOL....Thanks for all the replies
