449
So I've been using the Utorrent client for a while now and haven't had any issues with it up till now. Whenever I open it up and do the port check to see if it's open or not is shows it working fine. But after a minute my torrents still won't be downloading (or will be extremely slowly) and Firefox will act as if it has no connection and say "Firefox can't find the server at www.ex.com." After I would close Utorrent would Firefox work again.update: After switching back to 1.7.2 I'm getting a more normal number of seeds and download speed. It looks like it back to normal now. Ultima
When you forwarded your port, did you set a static IP up for your computer?
449
I'm not exactly sure what a static IP is so I don't think that's the problem. It had been working great for about a year and then one day it stopped working correctly for no apparent reason.
Ultima
If you're not sure what a static IP is, then it probably is the problem. If you're gonna forward your port, a static IP is almost always necessary.http://www.portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm
449
After trying to setup a static IP I ended up calling my ISP because in the guide it tells you to if your DNS server is not working. They tell me that I'm not on a static server(obviously) and that my options are to restart my router or open up all the ports. Well I tried restarting it ,but with no luck. My ISP did comfirm that the port I'm using is open. So I'm really lost now and need to know what the problem is.
