Guitarsmasher108
Would I get faster download speed with DHT enabled or disabled? And which setting for DHT is preferred among users? I've been looking around the forums and can't find any direct information about whether DHT being enabled is good or bad. Any help would be great. Ultima
DHT doesn't really have a direct effect on speeds. With it enabled, it might generate a lot of "connections," which can bog some network hardwares/softwares down. With it disabled, you might not find sources for data where the torrent's tracker no longer has any seeds/peers. It's a tradeoff. The main benefit of DHT is the fact that it's a tracker without a single point of failure (the tracker server), since DHT is a distributed tracker kept afloat by every single peer on the DHT network. If one node drops off the DHT network, it doesn't have any impact on its working state -- it'll still work.
