ThaDraGun
I've been trying to get WebUI for the longest time. After browsing the web for solutions I read that ipfiter.dat blocks your own IP by default and to get webui to work I have to disable ipfiter or allow my IP. So I disabled ipfilter to see if that was the problem and that did work. IE 7 didnt work (kept saying loading) but I guess the browser isnt supported and thats why? It did work in Firefox 3.1 beta without any problems at all.Now that I know it works with ipfilter off, how do I get it to work with ipfilter on? I'm not sure how to allow my IP.Thanks,ThaDraGun
schnurlos
ipfilter.dat is a simple text file.Make out your IP, and have a look into the ipfilter.datEdit the line/range or delete it, where your IP is indicated (search for the first two no. of your IP will make it easy). Ultima
Either way, ipfilter.dat doesn't block your own IP by default; µTorrent does so in each torrent, but that's unrelated to WebUI. So as schnurlos implied, you're blocking your own IP in a particular range listed in ipfilter.dat. If you didn't create it yourself, and you got the list from somewhere else, then that just goes to show how useless most pre-built lists are. ThaDraGun
I can't seem to find the range that's blocking it yet. I've already deleted three lines that I thought would do it and had no luck. I didnt create the ipfilter.dat myself I use one of those updaters that do all the work.Should I be getting the ipfilter.dat from somewhere else instead? Ultima
Unlike what common misconception might have you think, ipfilter.dat doesn't protect you from anti-P2P outfits.http://www.slyck.com/story1593_MediaDefender_Leak_Offers_BlueTack_Users_a_Reality_Checkhttp://neuron2neuron.blogspot.com/2006/05/blocklist-balderdash.htmlAt best, ipfilter.dat should be used to block poisoners, not ranges arbitrarily assumed to be anti-P2P by some overparanoid list maintainer. You should be creating your own, because those premade lists block too many legitimate IPs. Your own inability to access your WebUI just because ipfilter.dat is enabled is the most telling proof.Edit: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=359711#p359711Switeck posted a list of ranges known to be poisoners that may be of use. It's definitely not exhaustive, but it catches some of the more common ranges without blocking legitimate ranges (or at the very least, a lot less legitimate ranges than premade lists found elsewhere). ThaDraGun
I wouldnt even know where to start to create my own. Wouldnt know what are the bad IPs and what are good. Thats why I used the premade/auto updater version. I used to get emails from my ISP saying so and so company caught me downloading one of their files. Once I started using ipfilter I stopped receiveing the emails. Figured it was working. Thanks for the info. I'll just disable it.
