connection problem

Other users seem to be unable to connect to my utorrent. I updated to the latest version and since then it seems to cause the problem. Firewall on the pc is off. If I use any online port scanner to scan the port I set utorrent to listen to, it says the port is open. I tried several ports with the same result to avoid if some other app was using the port. However, if I run network test, the big red cross appears and says neither UPnP or nat-PMP is enabled, however I see no reason to turn it on. If I check those I get a yellow tick with asterisk over it and Results: Port is not open (you are still able to download). I cannot configure router, I am at dorm.
