New to API

Hi

Im very new to the API and having some difficulties grasping the basics

I have read many topics here for some hours and Im still confused

If I visit "http://192.168.1.200:12345/gui/index.html" I am presented with the Web UI - all ok and functioning'

If I visit "http://192.168.1.200:12345/gui/?list=1 I get Invalid request screen" or any other action or request for that matter.

My url has been checked and double checked, so the only thing I can imagine wrong is authentication token, and this is where I am failing.

I cannot understand how to impliment it, when I visit "http://192.168.1.200:12345/gui/token.html" I get a blank page.

How do I get this token? what generates it?

I have searched and seem the announcements and such but I need a lamens explaination or a pointer to a thread with one (I have searched and searched) and would appreciate any help anyone can offer if you have the time.

EDIT.... OK I found the token and Ive moved on, its all good now.
