Vista freezes with uTorrent

Hi! I have some evidence that this is not uTorrent's fault. However, I hope I can get a solution from the knowledgeable community.

I used uTorrent 2.2.1 on my Toshiba Satellite A200 without any problem for a few months. A few days ago I upgraded my HD, and tried to transfer the OS's by partition images. However, I bumped to the explorer.exe not starting problem, and wasting a few hours trying to solve it, decided to install Vista again. Having used mainly portable apps, I copied them (including uTorrent) back to the d-drive, and resumed the activities. But soon the computer froze, forcing me to hard reset the computer.

I looked for solutions through internet, but nothing I tried helped. I do remember having the freezing problem in the past, but I am not sure if it was with this version of uTorrent or an earlier one. However, any solution I should have applied, would have been passed to the new installation, as I copied the working uTorrent folders with the same configuration.

I switcted the old HD back to test once more. However, having already transferred the torrents and the files to the new HD and deleted them from the transfer USB HD (I didn't expect to have any problems), I downloaded uTorrent portable 3.0 to test it, got one torrent to download and at least during the test run I didn't have any problems (by the way, even Avast does not have any modifications such as P2P shield off, so it can't be the culprit).

I have here HijackThis and ProcessExplorer dumps for both configurations (old and working), they don't tell much to me but I hope someone here could find out what it is the problem. I may try to reimage the original Vista partition, uninstalling some programs to make it less prone for problems, and try to transfer it once more. On my Windows 2000 installation (on the new HD), uTorrent is running fine (some icon buttons are missing but I can do everything via menus), so it seems that some Vista configuration is to blame. If I only got my Chicony USB webcam working with Windows 2000, I would use it as my main Windows OS instead of Vista (not intending to buy Windows 7 and it seems that the freezing problems exist even with it).

Naturally my next experiment will be turning all these services off (ok, the logon services may be because of another user logged on the computer). But if someone can already point out a suspect (or for that matter any other observation from the previous dumps), be my guest.

I remedied this problem by solving the other problem, that is, I managed to transfer the Vista image from the working installation isolating the partition, i.e. uninstalling the programs I had on another partition (=practically everything). Doing this I would have preferred a clean installation, but I have to settle for the "unclean" installation, since the reason to change to the larger HD is the larger space for uTorrent.

So, my problem was "solved", but unfortunately I can only confirm that the freezing problem continues to exist with Vista, and I cannot tell what the reason is, only that none of the reasons presented on this forum apply to this specific freezing problem (and unfortunately I cannot be any more specific about the differences of the two installations).

Got back to freezing ways by installing the following optional updates: KB2533623, KB2545698, KB2563227, KB2468871, KB2533523 (OS Vista 32-bit Home Premium). System restore didn't help, so I have to rewrite the working partition image. This time I hope it's simpler.
