i'm in south korea with a local ISP and a modem from a company call Net&sys model number MNG-2300. I have tried everything i can think of to try and fix the issue as to why my connection speed is at 0 constantly. I don't what i can do with regards to port forwarding and i really don't much at about all of these settings that look like a alien language to me. if anyone can please help i would really appreciate it. i just want to be able to get back to enjoying myself and not have to worry about connection speeds being fucked up. oh almost forgot i am also running VPN service from myexpat.com i wonder if that is affecting my connection or if there is way i configure bittorrent to use this as a means of getting a better connection.

First, working through a VPN won't make anything faster. You still have to get the data back to your computer through your ISP. A tunnel only encrypts the data between you and myexpat.com (never heard of it, but I'll take a look) and shows your public IP address as one belonging to that service. If you're browsing Web sites in Korea or in a lot of Asia, your speed will be slower because the data have to go from your computer to the States (if that's where myexpat.com is located) and then back to here.

Unless you want to look at North Korean sites or NK-owned sites, or at porn sites that are blocked here, you'll almost certainly get better results going direct. I use a tunnel to get a US address so I can watch Hulu here in Korea, but the speed is much slower than browsing the net directly.

On the zero speed in uTorrent, I'm no expert at all. Until somebody else gives you better advice, open uTorrent, hit CTRL-G and run the speed test and setup program in the window. It will tell you if your setup is OK. And look in the bottom right-hand corner of the uTorrent screen for the circled to the right of the Facebook and Twitter icons. If it's green with a checkmark, your network setup is OK.
