Error: Can't open .torrent file: utorrents completed

This suddenly happened after years of using utorrent. Status for all torrents is the same:

Error Can't open .torrent file utorrents completed

1) Downloads are complete and correctly mapped/located in the folder showing for each torrent.

2) Force Re-check does nothing.

3) Double clicking the original torrent file gives error message - "The torrent you are trying to add is already in the list of torrents. Do you want to load the trackers from it?" I click yes and nothing changes.

OSX Mountain LIon 10.8.2

uTorrent 1.8.0 and 1.8.1 give the same results. (last latest version my bittorrent site has approved for Mac)

Please help!
