forced to kill process

Greetings all,

First time poster, long time user of a very fine software that never has failed me!

From time to time I am forced to open my task manager and actively kill the process utorrent.exe.

This is what happens. I start to download something, and it begins to download and when I later checks utorrent both upload and download has stopped. I exit utorrent, and the window is closed. However, it lingers in the process list. I must then kill it in order to open a new instance. After that, download and upload resumes and works fine. I never know when this is going to happen, and I don't know what might causing this.

currently I'm using utorrent 3.3 (build 29420) 32-bit, running windows 8 pro x64. However, this has happened in previous builds and versions as well.

Any one know what might cause this, if there is a setting I can change/look in too, or just need more information about my system and/or settings?
